After a great event in 2017 at the magnificent Athenian Riviera and the Municipality of Vari, Voula, Vouliagmeni, the 6th Edition of the XTERRA Greece Championship will take place on 29 April 2018.
Athletes can choose between the official Full Distance race (1,5km swim, 30km mountain bike, 10km run) or the Sprint Distance race (750m, 15km mountain bike, 5km run).
The Sprint Distance is ideal for those who would like to live the XTERRA experience for the first time! Team Relay option is also available in both distances.
The swim is taking place at the magnificent gulf of Vouliagmeni, the area that hosted the triathlon venue during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. During the challenging bike & run course, athletes will enjoy amazing views of the Saronic Gulf and the marvelous surroundings of the picturesque peninsula
The previous years, the Greek race attracted top professional and amateur athletes from more than 25 countries, marking a record number of participants in Greece in the sport of triathlon. The organization and the racing experience was World class, left the best impressions on athletes and spectators of the race, and set the basis for the establishment and development of XTERRA races in Greece.
“A few kilometers outside of Athens, participants will find a place where the urban landscape gives way to a unique seaside resort. The Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni at the South suburbs of the city, with its photogenic stretch of mountains, rocky coves, mineral lakes, seaside resorts and sandy beaches with blue-flag certified clean waters, is the jewel of the Athenian Riviera.
Combined with an ideal climate, it makes you feel as if you are on an endless summer holiday,” said race director Konstantinos Koumargialis.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the XTERRA Tribe in Athens, for the 6th edition of the XTERRA Greece Championship.”
