Όταν μιλάμε για την Ελλάδα, ο νους τρέχει σε αμμώδεις παραλίες με γαλάζιο ουρανό, φρέσκια και θρεπτική κουζίνα και ασβεστωμένα σπίτια. Είναι επίσης η χώρα στην οποία γεννήθηκε το Ολυμπιακό πνεύμα, καθιστώντας την ως την πλέον κατάλληλη για τη φιλοξενία ενός παγκόσμιου τριαθλητικού brand όπως το IronMan 70.3.

Το IronMan 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino, θα λάβει χώρα τον Απρίλιο, με την θερμοκρασία της άνοιξης να δημιουργεί το ιδανικό κλίμα για έναν αγώνα τριάθλου.. Αυτός ο μοναδικός αγώνας θα διεξαχθεί στην Πελοπόννησο – στην περιοχή γύρω από την Costa Navarino και τις περιοχές της Μεσσηνίας. Η περιοχή αυτή διαθέτει ένα από τα πιο συναρπαστικά τοπία της Μεσογείου, σε συνδυασμό με μια αξιοσημείωτη πολιτιστική κληρονομιά που εκτείνεται σε 4.500 χρόνια. Οι επισκέπτες μπορούν να εξερευνήσουν μνημεία και αρχαιολογικούς χώρους από κάθε εποχή της Πελοποννησιακής ιστορίας, που περιβάλλεται από ένα τοπίο από βουνά, δάση και ποτάμια.

Οι αθλητές θα κολυμπήσουν για 1,9 χλμ στο Ιόνιο Πέλαγος μπροστά στην παρθένα παραλία που εκτείνεται το Costa Navarino. Στη συνέχεια θα κάνουν ποδήλατο ανάμεσα από αρχαίους ελαιώνες και πευκόφυτους λόφους, χωρίς να χάνουν ποτέ το βαθύ γαλάζιο του Ιονίου. Η θέα είναι πραγματικά μοναδική. Αφήνοντας το χωριό Σουλινάρι θα κατευθυνθούν προς το χωριό Γαργαλιάνοι και στη συνέχεια πίσω στην Costa Navarino. Η ποδηλατική διαδρομή είναι απαιτητική και περιλαμβάνει 2 στροφές πάνω σε ασφαλτοστρωμένους δρόμους. Τέλος, ο μισός μαραθώνιοςο ημιμαραθώνιος θα ξεκινήσει από το The Westin Resort Costa Navarino προς την παραλία της Βοιδοκοιλιάς, μια παραλία μοναδικής ομορφιάς που σχηματίζει ημικύκλιο και περιβάλλεται με ελαφριά χρυσή άμμο. Η παραλία βρίσκεται ακριβώς δίπλα στη λιμνοθάλασσα Γιάλοβα, προστατευόμενη περιοχή Natura 2000. Η διαδρομή συνεχίζεται μέχρι τη λιμνοθάλασσα πάνω από τα λιθόστρωτα δρομάκια του χωριού πριν οι αθλητές γυρίσουν πίσω στη γραμμή τερματισμού στο The Romanos, το Luxury Collection Resort της Costa Navarino.

Bike: 90.1 km - the bike portion consists of two laps,

Run: 21.1 km - the run consists of one lap.

IRONMAN 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino offers Tiered Pricing based on slot inventory rather than dates for this event. Once all slots at each level are sold the price will go up. Please note that this can occur at any time.

Entries are open to any individuals or relay teams who wish to participate in one of the world’s great sporting challenges. Registrations are made online with payment by debit or credit card. No other payment option is available.

Capacity is limited, made up of standard entries and guaranteed places allocated to our event partners. Once standard entries close, our Official Hospitality Partner Ey Zhn may still be able to offer places via hospitality packages.

The Cut Off Times dictate the time limit on each sector of the course.

Swim: 1 hours 10 minutes + a further 10 minutes from the swim cut off to start the bike.

Bike: 5 hours 30 minutes (after you cross the swim start timing mat) + a further 10 minutes from the bike cut off to start the run.

Swim-Bike-Run: 8 hours and 30 min. (after you cross the swim start-timing mat).

Athletes have 8 hours and 30 minutes to complete the race based on their individual start time

Yes, athletes must be 18 on race day.

You will compete as the age you are on 31st December in the year of the race. For example, if you turned 25 in October, you would be in the 25-29 age group for all races in that year even though you may only be 24 on race day.

Yes, IRONMAN 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino will have a relay race.
Relay Information

o Relays are teams with 3 or at least 2 members.

o Every discipline (swim, bike and run) needs to be done by the relay athletes. It is not possible to skip one of those 3 legs.

o The top three relay teams (Male, Female and Mixed) will receive a trophy at the Awards Ceremony.

o Registration: Any member of the team can enter and register the team to collect the team race kit at registration as long as the event waiver is signed by each relay member.

o Bike & Gear Check in: any member of the team (the cyclist as a recommendation), can realize the Bike & Gear Check in. The Race CHIP will be handed over at the Check-in Exit.

o The Swimmer will start the race, wearing the Race CHIP from the beginning and will be allowed to hand it over to the Cyclist at the Transition area.

o The Cyclist: will be allowed to stay at the Team Relay Meeting Point in Transition, and wait for the Swimmer. Must wear all the compulsory bike gear & the race number on his back.

o The Runner: will be allowed to stay at the Team Relay Meeting Point in Transition, and wait for the Cyclist. Must wear the race number on the front.

o All members of the Relay team must have registered and filled out their information 30 days prior to race day. If they have failed to do so, IRONMAN maintains the right to deny the team's participation, with no compensation. The change of a team member can be done until 30 days prior to race day. No changes will be accepted past this deadline.

The event will take place in the greater region of Costa Navarino. The Ironman Village will be at Costa Navarino.

All athletes must register in person at the event prior to race day to collect their race packs. Nothing gets sent out in the post! In order to register you will NEED:

o Your BIB number (which will be uploaded around 3 weeks prior to race day).

o Photo Identification (passport or driving license).

o You MUST attend registration yourself in order to race.

o Under NO circumstance will we give your information to another person even with authorization.

No, the athlete racing MUST register and rack their own bike/bags. Photo ID will be requested in registration. Racking must be done the day before race day as per the race week schedule timings. On the day, racking is not permitted.

No, the athlete racing MUST collect these personally. Wristbands will be checked upon entry and items will be checked against your wristband and race numbers when leaving.

IRONMAN 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino operates a clean transition. NO equipment can be placed on the floor, box or otherwise around your bike. Helmets must also not be placed on your bike. Anything left will be removed. You will be given colored bags when you register for your bike and run gear.

Blue Bag: Bike Gear, put all the kit you need for your cycle in this bag, including your helmet (DON’T forget your race number). You will enter the blue bag marquee upon exiting the swim, here you will change and then head to collect your bike.

Red Bag: Run Gear, put all the kit you need for your run in this bag. Once you have left your bike you will enter the red bag marquee, here you will change and head to the run course.

White Bag: this bag is for your dry clothing that you require after the race. The white bags will be in the athletes finish area and available to collect as soon as you finish the race.

All bikes and transition bags must be racked by Saturday. Please see the Race Week Schedule for times.

o When you come to rack your bike, helmet and bags must have your race numbers securely stacked to them. You must have your helmet on with the strap fastened and be wearing your race number.
o You will not have access to your blue and red bags on race morning but you can check your bike and deploy race nutrition if needed.
o You must wear your helmet with the chin strap fastened before untracking your bike and you must keep it fastened until you have placed your bike back on the rack after completing the bike course.
You must check-in your bike, blue and red bike bags by Saturday before race day. Time TBD.

o Wetsuits are optional but strongly recommended.
*Pro Athletes can wear wetsuit if water temperature is up to and including 21.9 degrees C (71.5F)
*AG Athletes can wear wetsuit if water temperature is up to and including 24.5 degrees C (83.8F)
o The swim is a rolling start that will start on land. Athletes will line up according to their own expected swim time. BE REALISTIC!
o It is a single lap along beach side course, .For more information, please check the course map.
o The cut off time to complete the swim is 1 hour 10 minutes after you cross the swim start timing mat.
o All athletes must wear the official event cap.
o Calf guards can be worn underneath your wetsuit; compression socks however are not permitted.
o BIB number CANNOT be worn underneath the wetsuit.
o A tri suit may be worn underneath the wetsuit.

If you feel the need, please turn on your back and raise an arm in the air to attract attention from the swim safety crew. Note that a triathlon wetsuit provides buoyancy and you would be able to float with minimal effort should you need to take a few seconds to regain your composure.

The swim venue is located on a public beach and it’s open to public so there is no official swim practice.

It will be possible to warm up in the water prior to the swim start (until 7.30 am). Dry on land warm up is also recommended.

Neoprene hats can be used underneath the official swim hat if desired. Neoprene booties are ONLY allowed when the water temperature is 18.8 degrees Celsius/65 degrees Fahrenheit or colder. Neoprene gloves are not allowed.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino bike course consist of two laps.

iPods, MP3 players, phones, video cameras etc. are not permitted on the course.

IRONMAN 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino is a one lap course along the wonderful area of Voidokilia.

Your race number must be worn on your front.

No, for safety reasons spectators are not allowed to follow the athletes by car. Any vehicular traffic on the race course should expect long delays. Please do not attempt to gain access to the race course with your vehicle. We want to keep the course as safe as possible for the athletes. A detailed Spectators Guide will be announced prior to race day.

No. Any athlete who crosses the finish line with a spectator will be disqualified.

It is a safety risk to the athlete, the spectator(s), other athletes and staff to have non-competitors running down the finish line. It may also hinder other athletes achieving their personal goals or have their treasured finish line photo obstructed by spectators on the finish line.

o IRONMAN 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino offers 40 slots for the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Taupo, New Zealand.

o A minimum of one slot will be provisionally allocated to each Age Group category based on the start list (both male and female).

o Final slot allocation will be determined on race day based on the number of official starters.

o Final slot allocation shall be representative of the actual number of Age Group starters in each category in the race.

o Be prepared to pay the entry fee and Active fee with credit card ONLY. We will NOT accept cash or cheque as a valid form of payment.

Athletes MUST claim their slot in-person at the qualifying race during the Awards ceremony after the race.

After all automatic qualifiers have been announced any unclaimed slots within an Age Group will be rolled down to the next eligible finisher within that Age Group. If an athlete chooses not to take the slot, does not attend the Roll Down ceremony or has already qualified, the next eligible finisher in that Age Group may claim the qualifying slot.

Following Roll Down any unclaimed slots within an Age Group will be reallocated to another Age Group within the gender based on the athletes-to-slots ratio.

The Age Group within the gender with the largest athletes-to-slots ratio will receive the first reallocated slot, followed by the next largest ratio receiving the second re-allocated slot (if applicable), and so on.

Only Age‐Group Athletes are eligible to receive Age‐Group World Championship qualifying Slots. Athletes holding current Professional or Elite status with any ITU Member National Triathlon Governing Body, WTC’s Pro Membership program or having raced as an elite athlete in any international events during the calendar year, are not eligible for Age Group Slots. Athletes may not at the time of the event, nor at the time of the World Championship event they have qualified for, hold professional or elite status.

Any change in an athletes status prior to any event participation or a qualified World Championship event must be disclosed to WTC immediately. Failure of Athlete to make such disclosure will be cause for disqualification from such Event and may result in sanction from WTC Events.
