Kitesurfing began in the mid-90s but really developed after 2000, as the kite industry in general. In Greece the past 5-6 years there is a great interest in the sport as the country is really ideal for this due to good temperature, amazing beaches and of course great winds!
Kitesurfing is one of the most exciting watersports. Taking the best aspects of Surfing, Windsurfing and Wakeboarding and putting it into an adrenaline packed sport where you can ride big waves, jump really high, do low technical spins or just cruise!
How easy is to learn kitesurfing? If you have prior experience in kite-flying, windsurfing or similar sports, then the learning curve will be of course shorter, but anyone can learn provided that they have the patience and willingness to learn – which is essential! Being comfortable in the water will certainly help and with good guidance, the learning curve is accelerated. Without good guidance or not at all, kitesurfing can be quite dangerous and time-consuming.
